St Philip’s is committed to creating a happy and safe environment for our children to learn.
We take the Safeguarding of our children very seriously and believe two way communication with the parent body is crucial to this.
At our school we work within the following guidelines laid out in the policies below.
All our staff receive regular Safeguarding training and each carry guidance of what to do in the event of a Safeguarding disclosure.

Extremism & Radicalisation
This is fast becoming an important topic for everyone and we hope to engage the children in this subject through the curriculum and other activities. A guide for parents can be found in the folder below.

Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is an initiative run by Sussex Police that aims to reduce the long-term impacts of domestic abuse by providing early intervention and support.
When the police attend incidents of domestic violence or abuse where children are directly or indirectly involved, they notify the designated safeguarding lead at the child’s school before the start of the next school day. The safeguarding lead then makes sure the child gets the immediate support that they need.

Online Parenting Courses - Family Lives
Being a parent has never been easy. There are no manuals for it, and previous generations may not be able to provide the insight you're looking for. The family unit is more dispersed than ever, with some families existing hundreds of miles from what may be called a 'core unit'. The rapid pace of societal change in the UK rapidly outstrips the knowledge of the immediate past. The result is that many parents may find themselves lost in a maelstrom of contradictory advice. Bright Sky is a free to download mobile app providing support and information for anyone who may be in an abusive relationship or those concerned about someone they know.

We review online safety at our school regularly using 360safe accreditation for e-safety, an award mark for schools who strive for safety for our children online.
